- A passage to India by E.M. Forster is a story about unfairness and haltered. The main character Dr. Aziz is a young Muslim Indian physician. He does not like the “Englishman” and you see his feelings about them in the conversation with his two friends at a meal. After the meal Dr. Aziz is walking to the train station till he sees his favorite mosque. He enters the mosque and sees an Englishwomen. Angrily yells at her because he thought she was disrespecting the mosque. The Women ends up being Mrs. Moore and she has respect for native traditions and culture. At a get to gather Dr. Aziz meets Mrs. Moore’s daughter Adela. At the get-together Dr. Aziz half heatedly promises to take Mrs. Moore and Adela to see the Marabar Caves. Dr. Aziz thinks that Mrs. Moore and Adela are upset at him because he has not taken the women to the caves so he plans an outing to the caves. At the caves Mrs. Moore becomes scared and so only Dr. Aziz, Adela, and the guide continue in to the caves. After Aziz goes exploring in to a cave by himself and comes out and sees that Adela is missing. He goes up to the guide and asks where Adela. Aziz upset at the guide not knowing where she went he strikes him and the guide runs away. Aziz seeing Adela talking to an Englishwomen at the bottom of the mountains so he runs to her. Before he could get to the bottom of the hill the Englishwomen and Adela run and leave Aziz behind. Dr. Aziz confused and upset decides to go back home. On his way home he is arrested for sexually assaulting Adela. Dr. Aziz goes to trial and wins the trial. After the trial he is still torn and angry and the Englishman so he vows to never speak to a Englishman ever again.

- Dr. Aziz: Is a young Muslim Indian physician who works at a British hospital. He makes friends easily and he is a very emotional man. It is hard for him to think about things without instantly asking without thinking because he is so emotional.
- Mrs. Moore: is a older women who is in India over seeing her sons engagement. She is very respectful to the Indian customs.
- Adela Quested: Is a young British woman who is in India for two reasons. To marry and to see the real India. Throughout the novel Adela has a scary experience by being sexually assaulted.
Setting:
- In a Passage to India by E.M. Forster the setting is set in the 1920s and the British still had a strong hold on India. The British has colonized a lot in India and they pretty much ruled everything. The native people where always very upset because they were being tried like second class citizens on their home land. So this is pretty much the whole setting and environment in the novel. The Indian people are trying to fight for their rights as a human being and they are on the brake of a revolution. The British people are always trying to keep the Indians under their feet and keep control of them. You see how the British want to keep control and rule the Indians in the book when Ronny Heaslop would not let his mother help Dr. Aziz in the trial. Also when Mr. Turton had a party and invites both British people and Indian people and at the party it is very awkward between the two cultures.

As you can see this would be very hard to get over and put aside your diffuseness to become a friend with a person who historically owned you as throw an Indians perspective.
- Eastern and western Architecture is a small theme in the novel but it is prevalent. The eastern and western are always competing against each other. They are always trying to outdo each other.
- The Eastern and Western religion is a theme in the novel this is important to know. Religion is a big thing among cultures; it has caused war and death. The eastern main religion is Hinduism and the main western religion is Christianity.
